IN BRIEF : Ms. Martha Allan, Development Officer, Niagara College was in India on a 8 day visit to INSCOL. She interacted with current & prospective students in Delhi, Chandigarh, Kochi & Bangalore. She also visited few hospitals to understand the scope of practice of Indian nurses. Martha was happy with the progression of the cohorts already at Niagara College, Canada and appreciated INSCOL's Global Nurse Program.

Liverpool John Moores University delegate visit INSCOL Academy.

IN BRIEF : Mr. Phil Rathe, Senior Faculty, LJMU visited INSCOL centres at Delhi, Chandigarh, Bangalore & Kochi from 14-21 Nov 2011 to conduct the English Language Assessment. A total of 49 students were selected for the Masters in Nursing programme & 14 for the MSc Nursing Program from all the centres.

Grant MacEwan University, Canada delegate visit INSCOL Academy

IN BRIEF : Ms. Joanne Christie, Instructor & Ms. Deborah Taylor, Manager International Admissions, Grant MacEwan University were at INSCOL to discuss the progression of the Sept 2011 cohort & to strengthen our partnership. Conestoga College, Canada delegate visit INSCOL Academy

IN BRIEF : Ms. Karen Towler, Manager, Continuing Education- Health & Life sciences and Community Services and Ms. Karen Singleton, Professor, Nursing, Conestoga College, Canada visited INSCOL's academic centers in Chandigarh and Kochi. They interacted with 42 nurses enrolled for the Dec 2011 intake for the Enhanced Nursing Practice : Clinical and Critical Care Program. The scope of practice after completion of the program was shared with the Critical Care nurses.

INSCOL Academy signed a new partnership with Waiariki Institute of Technology, New Zealand

IN BRIEF : INSCOL Academy in partnership with Waiariki Institute of Technology, NZ will offer a new program " Bachelor of Nursing for Registered Nurses". GNM and B.Sc nurses are eligible for this program. Mr. John Snook, Mr. Pim Borren, Ms. Christa george and Mr. Paramdip Singh visited INSCOL academy for the contract signing ceremony. The first intake for this program will be in Feb 2012.

Union University, USA delegate visit INSCOL Academy.

IN BRIEF : Tim Smith, PhD, CRNA, APN Dean and Professor, School of Nursing,Executive Director, Center for Excellence in Health Care Practice,Union University, USA visited INSCOL Academy. He was in India to strengthen our partnership and also met with the US Consulate in Chennai and explained about the scope of the International Healthcare program for the Indian nurses.

Waiariki Institute of Technology, NZ delegate visit INSCOL Academy.

IN BRIEF :Gill Meek, Co-Coordinator, BNRN programme, School of Nursing and Health Studies, Waiariki Institute of Technology also visited INSCOL head office and our regional office in Kochi. INSCOL students attend certificate program on "Basic Life Support" and "Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation"

IN BRIEF : 106 Nurse students who were attending their Academic Study Skills Module at INSCOL attended a one day program at the INSCOL Hospital on Basic Life Support and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in the month of August. The program also includes a certification by National Safety Council, U.S.A. The program was conducted by trained medical doctors and disaster management experts. The students will join their respective University/college in UK/Canada soon.

International Nurses Week celebrated at INSCOL

IN BRIEF: International Nurses Week was celebrated at INSCOL from 6th-12th May 2011. The week was celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing profession while the theme for this years celebrations was "Closing the Gap :Increasing access and equity". The nurses enrolled in various universities across the globe and currently at INSCOL for their Academic Study Skills module enjoyed by participating in various competitions.

Symposium on Emerging frontiers in Management of Critically Ill was held at CII Auditorium by INSCOL

IN BRIEF: Department of Critical Care at INSCOL, Chandigarh organised an academic event "Emerging frontiers in management of critically ill" on 10th April 2011. The program also included a simultaneous " Hands on workshop for Management of Airway" by certified clinical instructors. The Chief Guest, Dr. R. K. Mani, Director- Pulmonology, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine, Artemis, Gurgaon and Past President ISCCM gave a keynote address on " Beyond ethical dilemmas; improving the quality of end-of-life care in the intensive care unit" before the inauguration of the workshop.

IN BRIEF: Ms. Helen Manoharan, Director- School of Nursing & health Studies, Waiariki Institute of Technology, New Zealand visited INSCOL Academy to discuss the study option available for Indian nurses at Waiariki. INSCOL will soon enter into a partnership to offer various programs for registered nurses. Ms. Manoharan also appreciated the mission of INSCOL Academy to provide global opportunities to Indian nurses.

New Program Launched at Niagara College, Canada

IN BRIEF: INSCOL Academy launched a new program at Niagara College, Canada. The Post Graduate Certificate in Community Mental Health- Multidiscipline is the first program of its kind for the Indian nurses. This program is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of mental health care providers working with mentally ill clients. This will introduce the participants to the current issues and trends in mental health care.

IN BRIEF: A Workshop was held at INSCOL Academy, Chandigarh, on Customer Relationship Management (CRM) by Dr. Mohan Agrawal, Mentor & Founder of Multi National Business Academy. The focus of the workshop was on being customer oriented and various approaches towards achieving customer satisfaction were discussed. We talked about the use and importance of different communication elements in patient care[Verbal Language, Body Language, Para Language (etiquettes, gestures, etc)]. The program is available for both GNM and BSc nurses. This program is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of mental health workers or others who work with or care for the elderly at their own homes, at institutions, and at other community settings.

INSCOL Academy provides an opportunity to nurses to study & work in Alberta, Canada

IN BRIEF: For the first time, nurses from India have the opportunity to study speciality nursing programs in Alberta, Canada, through a partnership between INSCOL Academy, Chandigarh, and Grant MacEwan University, Canada. The program offered is: POST BASIC NURSING - HOSPICE PALLIATIVE CARE & GERONTOLOGY. It is a Post Diploma Certificate of 2 semesters/one academic year. The program is open to both GNM as well as degree nurses and has good scope globally as the demand for gerontology nursing is increasing due to the ageing population in developed countries. The program will start in November this year.

INSCOL Academy signs a collaborative program with Liverpool JM University, UK

IN BRIEF: INSCOL Academy has set up a collaborative BSc Nursing program with Liverpool JM University, UK. This is the first time that the University has signed a collaborative BSc program with any institute in India. Being a collaborative program, the first semester would be studied in India and remaining 2 semesters in UK. INSCOL students get the benefit of earning the same degree at a lower cost as compared to a full delivery program. The program will start in September this year.

An interactive presentation and discussion session was held with the management team. The delegates appreciated the focus on quality and end-to-end holistic approach adopted by INSCOL in working with University partners and students.

IN BRIEF: Dr. Lauren Griffiths and Ms. Michelle Carter visited INSCOL Academy to conduct the English language assessment for the Buckinghamshire New University (BNU), UK. 40 students were selected from our offices in Chandigarh, Kerala and Bengaluru. The other main objective for Ms. Michelle Carter during this visit was to do research on her anthropological study on Indian nursing. The academy assisted Ms Carter in her research by arranging visits to various nursing schools, colleges and hospitals.

IN BRIEF: Ms. Ann Deane and Mr. Phil Rathe, Faculty of Liverpool JM University (LJMU), UK, visited INSCOL Academy to conduct the English language assessment. 34 students were selected from our Chandigarh office while 16 students were selected from the Kerala offices. The INSCOL team prepared for the validation of a new collaborative program with the University.

IN BRIEF: For the first time, Nurses from India have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, skills and professional conduct in the USA through a partnership between INSCOL Academy, Chandigarh and Valparaiso University, USA. This partnership offers exclusive and unique study options for GNM as well as Degree nurses. This partnership between INSCOL Academy & Valparaiso University currently offers two options: for a GNM diploma nurse (with NCLEX) to upgrade to BSN degree (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) and for a BSc degree nurse to upgrade to MSN (Masters of Science in Nursing Education). In future, more programs are expected to be offered.

IN BRIEF: Ms. Swapna Williamson, Program Leader, Thames Valley University, visited INSCOL Academy to induct and orient the students registered under the TVU Collaborative program for Cohort V on 21st and 22nd September, 2009. She also visited the Kottayam office for the same.

UWE delegates visit INSCOL Academy:

IN BRIEF: Ms. Valerie Watson and Dr. Debra Salmon, Faculty of University of the West of England, Bristol, UK, visited INSCOL Academy to conduct the English language assessment. The assessment was held on 14th and 15th September, 2009. A total number of 71 students participated in this assessment and 25 student nurses have been selected.

IN BRIEF: INSCOL Academy has received 25 visas for BSc candidates of LJMU-4. The batch has left for London, UK to pursue their studies. They have attended the orientation program.

INSCOL Academy ties up with Buckinghamshire New University, London:

IN BRIEF: INSCOL Academy has entered into a new partnership with Buckinghamshire New University, London, UK on 28th August, 2009 (Friday). The university is known for providing the best nursing education in Greater London. The first intake would start in February, 2010. MSc(Nursing) would also be offered. Entry to the program will be through an assessment process scheduled on 30th and 31st October 2009

New Study Option in Canada for Nurses:

In Brief: INSCOL Academy has signed a 5 year contract with a leading College in Toronto to offer The Post-Graduate Nursing Leadership & Management Programme for nurses from India. The College has 8 campus sites and is the largest Government funded College in Canada.. This bespoke program would enable nurses to develop their leadership and managerial skills so as to assume roles of Nursing Administrators & Nurse Managers. It would also prepare them to write the nursing licensing examination.

INSCOL now in South India:

In Brief: INSCOL academy has now entered the Gods Own Country, Kerala for its nursing operations. Nursing has been a big attraction for Kerala's youth in the past few years, mainly due to the demonstrated track record of the profession's ability to help them land in foreign jobs and earn handsome salaries. The rush for nursing education in Kerala has even resulted in many students who fail to get admission in the state and thus going over to the neighboring states. With INSCOL now entering the region and opening up various centers will make nursing profession a dream come true for the nurses looking for a global opportunity.

INSCOL ties-up with University in New Zealand:

In Brief: INSCOL academy, has recently tied up with a University in New Zealand to offer a unique study programme for nurses, to help them upgrade their diploma to a degree in nursing. The customised study programme would not only give nurses from India-an opportunity to enhance their knowledge, but would also familiarise them with the best international nursing practices, thus assisting them in taking up the global challenges of the ever changing healthcare scenario. The first batch would begin in July, 2009. The government funded University is located in lower half of then North Island. The University has three main campuses close to main shopping centres; Palmerston North, Wanganui and Masterton. All of these cities are relatively small by world standards, adding to the friendly environment which the international students enjoy so much. Recreational activities including sporting and cultural opportunities are very close at hand. For the more adventurous there are extreme sporting opportunities such as bunji jumping, skiing and water sports all within two hours drive from each campus.
