Chandigarh, the dream city of India's first Prime Minister, Sh. Jawaharlal Nehru, was planned by the famous French architect Le Corbusier. Picturesquely located at the foothills of Shivaliks, it is known as one of the best experiments in urban planning and modern architecture in the twentieth century in India.
Also called The City Beautiful, Chandigarh is a city in India that serves as the capital of two states, Punjab and Haryana, and is a union territory of India. The name Chandigarh is derived from the word 'Chandi' which is also the name of a Hindu Goddess.
Known internationally for its architecture and urban planning, Chandigarh is home to numerous architectural projects of Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Matthew Nowicki, and Albert Mayer. The city boasts a high standard of living and tops the list of Indian States and Union Territories with the highest per capita income in the country.
